Creative Roots is an innovative educational project inspired by the concert series, "Le Silence de la Forêt". It invites young string musicians to study a piece of music they will perform with Olivia Gay in her concert series. This initiative harmoniously combines Olivia's passion for music with her environmental commitment, offering a unique experience to young artists.

Pièce pour la forêt, composed by Laurent Grynszpan, embodies the very essence of this project. The remarkable originality of the program lies in bringing a seasoned artist and novice musicians together, unleashing their creativity while mobilizing for a crucial cause: the preservation of our forests. The rapport with Olivia on stage creates a magical alchemy, offering the audience a performance which is meaningful and memorable.

"Laurent Grynszpan writes sensitive music, full of wit and heart; each of his miniatures is a discovery, each has a story. This ambitious project has enthused many teachers, regardless of their instrument families."
Philippe Miller, Director of the CRD Edgar-Varèse, Gennevilliers

Education and musical improvisation

An ambitious educational project in which films by Georges Méliès are set to music and performed by students from Ecole Koenig in Paris.

For many of these students it was their first encounter with musical improvisation. The films of Georges Méliès readily lend themselves to this "musical game". The young musicians  read the image, as if it were a musical score.

Directed and developed by Laurent Grynszpan and Betsy Schlesinger, this project is the result of several months work presented during the Weekend du Clavier Contemporain at the Chopin Conservatory in Paris, January 29, 2017.
